WHAT IS IT ALL ABOUT?

Putting the Diva into DevoManc

Let's fill DevoManc with the voices of women across Greater Manchester.

Women have been fundamental in shaping the Greater Manchester we love and care for.  Sometimes we've had to make a fuss to be heard.

Fed up by the stale pale male images and voices that have dominated the DevoManc agenda to date?  Struggling to see where the opportunities, wishes, fears and contributions of Greater Manchester women and girls are reflected?

Together we can be the change we want to see across this great city region and lead the way for a more diverse, inclusive, vibrant and accountable Devolved Greater Manchester.

WHAT PEOPLE SAY

Putting the Diva into DevoManc

"I think it's a great idea. All the evidence shows that when women are represented at least 50% on company boards, the company achieves more."  Women are "instrumental in driving change in Greater Manchester".

Donna Hall, Chief Executive of Wigan Council, commenting in the Guardian on DivaManc

DIVAMANC ACTIVITY

Putting the Diva into DevoManc

We have been taking some time to assimilate all the conversations and information shared over the last nine months and reflect on next steps. If you have some thoughts on DivaManc activities to date or ideas to share for the future please do let us know.

We are currently exploring alternative governance models to ensure that DivaManc lives and breathes it’s DIVA (diverse, inclusive, vibrant & accountable) values and provides an effective framework for collaboration between women, women’s organisations and interested parties across Greater Manchester to work with our GM leaders in our quest for gender equality. We are looking to hold an event in July to explore together, in the meantime we welcome your ideas.

We've also been enjoying the space since our last event to: find out more about other campaigns, activities and conversations that are taking place which relate to the DivaManc mission; to attend and participate in other events and activities; to share our DivaManc stories; to continue the DivaManc conversation with the people we know and bump into; and to respond to the announcement of #GE2017.

We've added a new page to the website 'Women and GE2017' with links to some of the campaigns, resources and information we are aware of that may be of interest to you.

Please do pass on anything you are aware of so we can add and share.

DIVAMANC HAPPENINGS

Putting the Diva into DevoManc

In the run up to GE2017 we asked parliamentary candidates from across GM to sign up to our pledges alongside GM citizens and public, private and voluntary organisations.  We welcome your support.
